National Immunization Awareness Month: Infants and Young Children

Join CDPH in celebrating National Immunization Awareness Month by increasing efforts to get infants and young children vaccinated on-time! Vaccinating infants and young children on time protects them by providing immunity early in life, before they come into contact with potentially life-threatening diseases.

Here are some ways you can make your practice a space that promotes immunization.

  • Engage in learning opportunities such as CDC’s Immunization Education and Training courses and CDPH’s immunization webinars and trainings.
  • Make immunization resources easy to find for parents, such as the Immunization Timing Block Schedule (Spanish) and Vaccine Safety (Spanish) information. Display Immunization Schedules and Immunization Assessment Tools on your website.
  • Use proven strategies for talking with parents about immunizations and prepare for immunization questions parents may ask.
  • Implement a reminder and recall system to prompt clinical staff and let parents know when vaccines are due or when patients miss doses.
  • Schedule upcoming immunizations before the patient leaves the office.

Remind parents that their child’s Digital Vaccine Record can be downloaded and printed for school or childcare immunization documentation.

Your efforts during National Immunization Awareness Month can help keep young children safe, healthy, and happy!

Suggested Message: Immunizations During Pregnancy

As National Immunization Awareness Month continues, share messages from the CDPH Pregnancy and Immunizations Toolkit highlighting the importance of prenatal vaccines. Pregnant people can protect themselves and their developing babies by vaccinating against COVID-19, whooping cough, flu, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and more.
