Call for Nominations

 

California has launched the nomination period for the 2025 Immunization Champion Award! We look forward to receiving your nomination of a 2025 Immunization Champion for California by 5:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025. Nominations must be sent directly to the California Immunization Program at MyVFCVaccines@cdph.ca.gov. (Use Subject line: IZ Champion.)

The Immunization Champion Award is a national award program hosted by the Association of Immunization Managers (AIM) and honors individuals going above and beyond to foster and/or promote immunization in their communities.

Instructions for Nomination


Individuals can be recognized for their work in childhood, adolescent, or adult vaccines.


Who is eligible?

  • Healthcare professionals (i.e., pharmacists, physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical assistants)
  • Non-profit leaders
  • Community activists
  • Parents
  • Schools and education leaders
  • Coalition members
  • Community-based organization members
  • Immunization partners

Who is ineligible?

  • Employees of the California Immunization Program
  • Employees, spouses, and immediate family members of pharmaceutical companies
  • Individuals who are entitled to royalties or other compensation for a vaccine product or process patent
  • Individuals serving as a paid litigation consultant or expert witness in litigation involving a vaccine manufacturer
  • Individuals who have accepted or solicited funds from vaccine manufacturers
  • Previous CDC Childhood Immunization Champion Award or Immunization Champion Award winners

2024 Awardee

In 2024, the California Department of Public Health selected Michelle Contreras, a Medical Assistant working with the Indian Health Council.  Indian Health Council is a nonprofit that occupies two health centers and serves nine federally recognized consortium tribes of the Native American reservations in San Diego’s north county region.  Read more about her profile and previous award recipients on the AIM Immunization Champion Award webpage.
