January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month!

Cervical Cancer Awareness Month is a great opportunity to remind patients and parents that HPV vaccination can prevent many oral and anogenital cancers, including (but not just) cervical and penile cancer. Although HPV vaccine has been given safely to tens of millions of adolescents over more than 15 years, rates of HPV vaccination in California still lag those for Tdap and other preteen vaccines.

How you say it matters.

Pediatricians and other health care providers, as trusted messengers, can champion the importance of preventing cancer with HPV vaccinations.  Don’t miss any opportunity to vaccinate!

Get Personal!  Share why your kids, nieces, nephews or grandkids have been vaccinated, and why it matters to you.

Consider sharing Lily’s Story (video 4:08 minutes) from the ShotByShot.org collection. Lily is just 27 when diagnosed with cervical cancer and seeks support from her mom and boyfriend during treatment. She shares her story to increase awareness of the disease.
