Allocations Distributed for New Refrigerated Pfizer 12yrs+ COVID-19 Vaccine
As of December 19, 2023, allocations for Local Health Departments of the new refrigerated Pfizer 12yrs+ COVID-19 vaccine (NDC 0069-2377-10) have been distributed. CDPH will be loading the amount zeroed out of the previous product for the new product allocations, and ordering for the new product will open by December 20, 2023. All new orders will be processed with other BAP orders next Thursday, December 28, 2023.
Despite the transition to the refrigerated Comirnaty, providers who have the original Pfizer 12y+ vaccine on hand can and should continue to use this product until it is consumed, expired, or has been stored at 2°C - 8°C for longer than the allowable 10 weeks.
For more information and resources, please refer to this CDPH communication, and to the updated COVID-19 Vaccine Adolescent/Adult (12Y+) fact sheet.
Urgent Need: Increase Respiratory Virus Immunization Coverage
Vaccine coverage is low for all recommended respiratory vaccines. It is crucial to recommend and administer immunization to prevent severe illness. Refer to the Conversation Guide for Healthcare Providers for more information about talking with patients about how to protect against fall and winter respiratory viruses. COVID-19 Medications and Transitions to Commercial Marketplace
This CDPH California Health Advisory Network (CAHAN) Update aims to remind providers that all symptomatic patients with a positive COVID-19 test should be evaluated for treatment with one of the U.S. National Institutes of Health recommended treatment options.
While previously available free of charge, patients will start to see cost-sharing and co-pays for all COVID-19 medications (like all prescribed drugs) once the U.S. Government (U.S.G.) purchased product supply has run out. Refer to the health advisory for more details. COVID-19 Therapeutics Ordering
