It's Not Too Late to Vaccinate Against Influenza

This first week of December is National Influenza Vaccination Week! This is an annual observance to remind everyone 6 months and older that there is still time to get immunized against flu. Especially with flu season here and holiday gatherings coming up, continue to promote flu vaccination among your patients.

This season, we are facing a winter surge unlike others, not only due to high levels of influenza and COVID-19, but now pediatric Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), many calling it a “tripledemic.” California hospitals are experiencing a high demand to address all three of these illnesses. So, make sure your patients stay safe through preventive measures and receive their annual flu vaccine to prevent from getting severely sick or even hospitalized.

.

Remind patients that it’s not too late to get protected against influenza and COVID-19. It is also safe and convenient to get the flu vaccine along with other vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.

.

Inform patients at your practice to get their annual flu vaccine by sharing this message through your patient portals or other reminder channels:

.

“Have you received your annual flu vaccine yet? There’s still time! Every flu season is different, but flu always has the potential to cause serious illness, which is why vaccination is important. Call our office at [PHONE NUMBER] to schedule your vaccine today!”

.

Thank you for all that you do to help protect your patients against flu!

Joint Letter on Strong Recommendation for Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines

CDPH partnered with the American Academy of Pediatrics (CA), California Academy of Family Physicians, California Immunization Coalition, and California Medical Association on a joint letter urging providers of pediatric services to continue to make strong recommendations for flu and COVID-19 vaccines.
