Immunization of families heading abroad is critical to protect them against measles, pertussis, and other diseases causing recent outbreaks. Recall patients that are falling behind on these vaccinations. Also, don’t forget to protect young children 6-11 months who are about to travel abroad with a recommended accelerated dose of MMR.
Encourage your patients to get caught up on any immunizations at least a month before travel. If you do not stock certain travel vaccines, direct patients to a travel medical clinic.
