Messaging for Staying Healthy this Respiratory Virus Season

With holiday travel and gathering season around the corner, and respiratory virus season underway, we’d like to spotlight three CDPH communications toolkits for encouraging Californians to reduce the spread of respiratory viruses like flu, COVID-19 and RSV this fall and winter.

  • Respiratory virus prevention
  • Flu & COVID-19 vaccination
  • RSV prevention

Visit the toolkits to get messages like:

  • Make sure everyone 6 months and older receives updated 2024 - 2025 flu and COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Get immunized against RSV if eligible (especially older adults, pregnant people and some infants).
  • Take simple actions, like staying home when sick, wearing masks in crowded indoor settings and washing hands often, to lower the chance of getting and spreading respiratory viruses.

Now’s the Time to Get Updated 2024 – 2025 Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines

CDPH has produced a new social media video encouraging updated 2024 – 2025 flu and COVID-19 vaccines for everyone 6 months and older. Vaccines are our best protection against severe illness and hospitalization. Share the video.

RSV Immunization for Older Adults

Share messages encouraging eligible older adults to get immunized against RSV.

The RSV immunization is recommended for:

  • Adults aged 75+
  • Adults aged 60 – 74 who have certain chronic health conditions or live in a nursing home

People can even get the RSV vaccine at the same time as flu and COVID-19 vaccines.
