Weekly Wrap Up – November 4, 2022

November Holiday Ordering & Delivery Cadence

In preparation for upcoming November holidays, please keep the following points in mind:

  • There will be no catch-up orders the week before and of Thanksgiving.
  • Providers should place larger orders of vaccine at the beginning of the month, as CDPH expects delayed delivery windows around the holidays.

Regular ordering will resume the week after Thanksgiving.

Please see below for the November Holiday Ordering & Delivery Cadence Calendar:

Holiday Call Center and Help Desk Closures

The My Turn and myCAvax Help Desk and the COVID-19 Provider Call Center will be closed for holidays on the following days:

Short-dated Monovalent Vaccines

In order to prevent a supply gap for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, Moderna has submitted a request to the FDA for a shelf-life extension for monovalent vaccines. Pfizer will submit a request to the FDA for a shelf-life extension of the orange cap (5 years-11 years) vaccine and the gray cap (12 years+) vaccine. Please quarantine and continue to store those vaccines. CDPH will provide additional information on short-dated monovalent vaccines as it becomes available.

Provider FAQ: Pfizer and Moderna Single-Dose and Small-Dose Vials

Q: When will Pfizer and Moderna offer single-dose and small-dose vials?

Pfizer single-dose vials of the COVID-19 bivalent (ages 12+, gray cap) booster vaccine may be available to order with a minimum of 50 doses in late November, 2022. Shipping, storage, and handling will remain the same, but ancillary kits will be discontinued over time. Moderna may soon distribute 2-dose vials of the COVID-19 monovalent (ages 6+ years) vaccine. CDPH will continue to provide updates as they become available.
