Q: With updated booster dose recommendations, what should COVID-19 vaccine Providers do with remaining monovalent vaccine inventory?
A: COVID-19 vaccine Providers should adhere to the following guidance for remaining monovalent vaccine inventory:
- Keep vaccine until expiry and use as primary doses as applicable (Note: Pfizer ages 5 Years – 11 Years can be used as booster doses).
- List vaccine on the vaccine marketplace if you cannot or do not plan on administering them before expiry.
- Dispose of vaccine at expiry. There are currently no pending monovalent vaccine shelf-life extensions.
- If storage space is absolutely needed, and redistribution options are exhausted, please contact the Provider Call Center for additional options.
- Do not donate vaccine outside of the U.S.
Please follow guidance in the Provider Operations Manual to report and dispose of expired vaccine.
