For Long-Term Care Facility Partners:
Promote Flu, COVID-19, and RSV Vaccination for Staff and Residents
Dear Valued Partner:
Long-term care facility (LTCF) residents and staff will continue to be vulnerable to influenza, COVID-19, RSV, and other respiratory illnesses this fall and winter. Please share with your staff, residents, and families these new and updated materials from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) about the importance and urgency of getting a yearly flu vaccine, an updated COVID-19 vaccine, and RSV vaccine for older adults and for pregnant persons. These resources and more are listed below and available on the Resources for Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCFs) page.
Testing and treatment for COVID-19 are also critically important tools to protect our vulnerable LTCF community. CDPH is continuing to provide free COVID-19 tests to LTCFs. Use this link to place an order for up to a 2-month supply of COVID-19 tests before November 30, 2023.
Medications that treat COVID-19 are currently free, widely available, and lower the risk of serious illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. COVID-19 medications are effective in elderly and immunocompromised persons. Resources and information on treating and managing COVID-19 are available on the covid19.ca.gov webpage and the CDC COVID-19 Treatments and Medications webpage. CDPH also provides a COVID-19 Toolkit, including communications materials that can be printed and posted in facilities or handed out to staff and visitors.
