Dear California Healthcare Providers,
The Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record (DCVR) has been well utilized by Californians, allowing convenient access to one’s personal COVID-19 vaccine record. The California Department of Public Health is excited to announce the expansion of the DCVR to include all vaccines, thereby providing digital access to one’s immunization record from the California Immunization Registry (CAIR). This new Digital Vaccine Record (DVR) portal provides a much-desired service, giving California residents easy access to their immunization history.
How Healthcare Providers Can Help:
We encourage you to submit historical doses for your patients to CAIR. This will give them access to a more complete immunization history. As more immunization data is submitted to CAIR, we expect that in the future more patients will access records through the DVR portal, reducing the number of requests your clinic receives from patients asking for their immunization records. If you are a CAIR data exchange participant, consult with one of our Data Exchange Specialists at CAIRDataExchange@cdph.ca.gov about submitting historical doses for your active patients. (For Healthy Futures/RIDE users, see MyHealthyFutures.org for assistance.)
For providers not already enrolled in CAIR, now is the time! More provider participation in the immunization registry leads to a more complete DVR. Additionally, the passage of AB 1797 requires that providers who administer vaccines enter immunization information into the immunization registry. For additional information, see the California Department of Public Health’s AB 1797 Immunization Registry FAQs.
Thank you for helping to make the Digital Vaccine Record portal a success for all Californians!
Sincerely,
California Department of Public Health
