Weekly Wrap Up
According to the March 28, 2024 CDC Health Advisory, there has been an increase in invasive Serogroup Y Meningococcal disease in the United States.
The pentavalent meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY-TT/MenB-FHbp [PENBRAYA™, Pfizer, Inc.]) protects against N. meningitidis serogroups A, B, C, W, and Y, and is licensed for use among persons aged 10-25 years.
If a patient is receiving MenACWY and MenB vaccines at the same visit, PENBRAYA™ may be given instead. This includes: - Healthy persons aged 16–23 years (routine schedule) when shared clinical decision-making favors administration of MenB vaccine, and
- Persons aged ≥10 years who are at increased risk for meningococcal disease.
NOTE: Different manufacturers’ MenB vaccines are NOT interchangeable.
For more information on the PENBRAYA™ vaccine, including storage and handling and ordering through the VFC program, please refer to the CDPH Immunization Updates for Providers webinar (Friday, May 17, 2024), slides 25-39, as well as the webinar recording.

Return to Table of Contents Measles Cases and Outbreaks Have Increased Worldwide
Exposures while traveling have led to measles cases in U.S. residents. As we approach travel season, CDPH recommends that providers remind patients to be up to date on their Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccination. For more information refer to the CDPH EZIZ Measles Resources.
Return to Table of Contents COVID-19 Therapeutics HHS Distribution Program Closeout Activities
As the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is no longer distributing COVID-19 therapeutics, except to certain federal entities, we ask that all providers finalize their reporting data in the Health Partner Ordering Portal (HPOP). If your organization or site received COVID-19 therapeutics from HHS, please reconcile that therapeutics inventory in HPOP, to the extent possible, by June 30, 2024. Federal entities that are receiving HHS-distributed oral antivirals must continue to report that inventory.
For providers who received HHS-distributed therapeutics: - Ensure all reporting in HPOP is accurate.
- Ensure reporting of all products is updated to account for all delivered products as administered, transferred, wasted, returned or on-hand inventory by June 30, 2024.
- Once all products are accounted for (at least 95%) and on-hand inventory is zero for each product, no additional reporting is required.
Return to Table of Contents Reminder: Weekly Wrap Up Purpose and Plan
CDPH appreciates how many emails providers receive and our intention is to send only the most valuable information. The purpose of the Weekly Wrap Up is to summarize that week’s most important updates and crucial information. Going forward, if a particular week didn’t have crucial updates or new information to share, we won’t send the Weekly Wrap Up on that Friday.
